Volunteer
Throughout the year, our mobile unit goes into sections of our county to offer dental and medical services. We are able to meet the tangible needs of many uninsured people in our county.
If you are a licensed health care professional, you can put your skills to work. Examples of services we currently offer include:
Medical Services: Health checkups, health screenings, blood pressure checks, diabetes checkups
Dental Services: Dental cleaning, crown work, oral hygiene checkups, extraction if necessary
Click here to download the following Department of Health documents. By signing and returning these two documents, you will be able to practice worry free. Please return original copies to our Administrative Offices located at 8900 SW 168 Street, Palmetto Bay, FL 33157. The Department of Health of Miami-Dade County provides liability insurance to all healthcare professionals that:
- Have signed under the working rules of the Department of Health (turned in application and have been approved)
- Are registered with Caring For Miami as a recognized Department of Health volunteer
- Cannot charge for services
If you are NOT a licensed health care professional, you can still join the Mobile Unit by volunteering in one of the following ways:
- Be a Department of Health volunteer qualifying clients for service. (Forty-five minute training required.)
- Be a driver for the Mobile Unit. (Driving record check required.)
- Assist with setup and teardown.
- Pray and share your story with clients waiting in line for services.
