Learn More About Caring For Miami
Our Mission
Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for families in Miami-Dade County by delivering essential resources and compassionate care to underserved communities.

2009
Our Founding
In 2009 Christ Fellowship Church, under the leadership of the late Dr. Rick Blackwood, established Caring For Miami to connect resources and volunteers to the hurting and under-resourced of Miami Dade County.
2010
Addressing Homelessness and the Need for Access to Care
Caring For Miami operated the Family Life Center in Downtown and Homestead to provide essential services, like literacy programs, prenatal care, counseling and hunger relief for families in need. Meanwhile, the Mobile Dental Clinic traveled throughout Miami, offering emergency dental care to underserved communities with limited access to health.

2012
Providing Mental Health Care
Caring For Miami merged with Christ Fellowship Counseling Center to further expand the ability to provide holistic, compassionate services.
2013
Expanding Access to Dental Care
As the needs of the community evolved, Caring For Miami narrowed its focus on its strongest and most impactful programs, seeing mobile units as the best way to reach communities in need. Caring For Miami, through the generous support of Christ Fellowship Church and the Batchelor Foundation, launches a brand new 3-chair Mobile Dental Clinic, replacing the previous unit. This upgrade allowed the team to offer more complex dental procedures, such as extractions and fillings. The Mobile Unit would operate twice a month on Saturdays through volunteer-led outreaches.

2014

The Project Smile Program increased the ability to provide access to dental care for patients of the Miami Cancer Institute and other community agencies in Homestead and Florida City.
