Be still and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10
Some animals may fake death for long periods of time to escape predators. Scientists have documented the benefits of animals faking death to escape it.
How many times have we regretted having said or acted in a certain way in an exasperating situation or when being attacked? And then we say: oh no, what did I do?! Why didn’t I stay quiet, why did I respond like that? The truth is that according to the Word of God we must always seek peace. Jesus himself gave us the example saying “learn from Me that I am meek”.
Let us also remember Matthew 23:12 “for whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted”.
Let’s not forget that it takes two to fight, we should apply the technique that animals use of ‘playing dead’ in the face of danger or an attack and let God fight for us. The Lord commands us to seek peace and to be pacifiers and not to sow the flame of discord.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, help us learn to control our temper, our impulses, to imitate you…to seek peace at all costs. Keep us safe and away from conflicts or messes so that everyone around us can see You shine in our lives. Amen.
