“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Matthew 6:19-21
When we receive gifts from the ones we love we cherish them with all our hearts because of the person giving them and coincidentally we treasure the person giving the gift.
Have you ever received a gift from a loved one that you held near and dear to your heart, and if you ever lost this gift you would feel like the world was ending? When we receive gifts from the ones we love we cherish them with all our hearts because of the person giving them and coincidentally we treasure the person giving the gift. The Bible talks about the gifts we receive as being gifts from above. In James 1 we read that, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.” All that has been given to us has been granted by God who in His goodness and grace knows what and when we’re in need of something. It is in this same goodness and grace we were given a gift through the life and death of Jesus Christ, we were given eternal life. This gift is something that as believers we treasure highly because we love the giver. Everything God has granted to us for eternal life cannot be taken from us. When Jesus tells us to lay our treasures in heaven it is because no thief can steal this gift. Any gift or talent that is given to us we are called to steward them towards the kingdom of God. In 1 Peter we read, “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.” Our gifts and our talents are a gift from above and we should treasure them because we know who gave it to us. At Caring For Miami we provide services to exercise your gifts and to train your God-given talents to further God’s kingdom. When we love someone we express this love through our actions, when we love Jesus we express this through our service.
When we love someone we express this love through our actions, when we love Jesus we express this through our service.
